4 Tips for Staying Calm under Stress

Last weekend my mom and I decided we wanted to move her into a condo right around the corner from my house. (So excited!)  But during the process of making the offer on the condo and applying for a mortgage, I found myself stressing out.

So what do I do?

I take a 15 minute time out from my day and I sit quietly listening to a meditation and then I write out exactly what I want to happen and visualize a positive outcome.  Within a matter of hours, we were the proud owners of a beautiful, bright, single floor condo.

There’s an exercise in The Wealthy Speaker 2.0 which is about writing down “The Perfect Day in your Life 5 Years from Now”.  It’s a very powerful tool and I’ve had many clients who have brilliantly stepped right into what they imagined.

Here are a few tips for staying calm in your business and expanding your vision:

1.  Ask yourself great questions.  Allow your mind to tap into open ended questions like “what’s the best possible outcome?”  And “will this support my empire?”  Great questions will allow us to check in with each of our ideas and find new, innovative ways to grow our business.

2.  Calm your mind. Quieting the mind has some amazing benefits and meditation continues to gain popularity. Check out this HuffingtonPost article on the habits of some very wealthy people.

3.  Set your vision. Whether it be stating your intention at the beginning of each day, or writing out your vision for your next 5 years, that clarity is very beneficial.

When you start to see yourself getting distracted in your work, circle back to your vision. And remember the Earl Nightingale adage, “you become what you think about most of the time”.

4.  Reflect with gratitude.  Every day at 4pm, my phone pings me and says “what were your wins today?”  I have a phone app called Win Streak (developed by my coach Dan Sullivan) that prompts it.  When we recognize our achievements it helps us build momentum and attract even more.
